Over 40 years of Accomplishments:
- The designation of Carbonear Island as a National Historic Site. This is recognized with a plaque located in the War Memorial Park on Water Street.
- Transcription of cemetery headstones into reference volumes and the collection of records for use in family history research.
-The Southcott Award: The Carbonear Heritage Society was awarded The Southcott Award in 1988. This award acknowledged the dedication of the society of the society in improving the quality of built heritage by the resoration of the Railway Station. The Carbonear Heritage Society was the first group outside St. John's to receive this award.
- We commemorated the 80th anniversary of the heroic death of Tryphoena Nicholl, who lost her life while saving others from a fire in the Post Office, by creating an exhibit to the history of the postal service since . 2004 was the 100th anniversary of her death.
-On September 23 2000, the Historic Sites and Monuments Board of Canada designated the Railway Station as the representative railway station for Newfoundland. This is the second national recognition for Carbonear, the first being Carbonear Island.
- Carbonear Heritage Society was a founding member of the Heritage Foundation of Newfoundland and Labrador and facilitated the introduction of the Main Street Program in Carbonear.
-The D.W. Prowse Award: On May 4th 1991, the Heritage Foundation of Newfoundland and Labrador presented this award to memebers of The Price of Fish committee which included the Carbonear Heritage Society.
- The society had a major role in developing The Price of Fish Exhibit and the creation of the Harbour Rock Hill interpretive site and its History Board
- Developed the exhibit Going Foreign.
- Researched many projects over the years and developed them into literature and exhibits for public education.
- Archiving and cataloging over 4000 pieces of Carbonear's material culture
